Empty Homes Send Signals
A quiet home can tell a story. Piled mail, dark windows, trash cans left out, and no movement can show that no one is there.
You can reduce those signals without expensive gear.
Use Timers
Put one or two lamps on timers. Set them for normal evening hours. Do not light every room all night. That can look strange too.
Smart plugs can help, but simple timers work fine.
Ask A Neighbor
A trusted neighbor is better than most gadgets. Ask them to grab packages, move bins, and call if something looks wrong.
Return the favor when they travel.
Hide The Clues
Pause mail if needed. Break down boxes. Do not post travel plans in public. Keep tools and ladders locked away.
Close curtains where valuables are visible. Leave some curtains in their normal position so the home does not look sealed.
