No Cook Food Solves A Real Problem
Cooking may be hard during an outage. You may not have power, fuel, clean dishes, or enough water. A no-cook food box buys time.
It should be boring, easy, and familiar.
Pick Normal Foods
Choose foods your household already eats. Stress is not the time for strange meals.
Good options include:
- Peanut butter
- Crackers
- Canned fruit
- Tuna or chicken packets
- Granola bars
- Trail mix
- Applesauce cups
- Shelf-stable milk
- Ready beans
Add a manual can opener if any cans need one.
Count By Days
Pack one day at a time. Put breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks into a row or bag. Repeat seven times.
This keeps the box from being eaten randomly on day two.
Add Comfort
Comfort food matters. Tea, instant coffee, candy, or cocoa can help morale. Keep it small, but include something pleasant.
Do not forget pet food and baby food if your home needs them.
What To Do Today
Spend ten minutes picking one no-cook dinner.
Buy two repeats of it on your next grocery trip.
